So let's meet the culinary inspirations for this week's menu around my house.
With fall scenting the air I wanted to make sure that I took some time to play around with some ingredients that not everyone may have eaten, and certainly one that most people tend to buy from a can (insert my shudder at the thought of eating commercially canned anything when fresh is available).
This kale is beautiful. So much so I made sure to share not one but two photos. Kale provides beta carotene, Vitamin C, and calcium and has a wide variety of cullinary uses. One of my favorites happens to be kale chips, so deciding on the preparation of this bunch will be a hard decision to make!
I just love spinach. I could go on for ages about how wonderfrul spinach is for you, but google it because the list is long. And the moral of that story is find ways to get this onto your plate, your body thanks you.
Fresh local garlic is so much more flavorful than what you buy in the supermarket, if you have the chance to buy fresh do so, and do so often.
Potatoes. Lovely starchy satisfying potatoes. These will probably end up on my table tonight.
This is a pie pumpkin. And I'm going to roast and puree this pumpkin to use in a variety of recipes in the coming week.
Spaghetti squash. Admittedly I'm not generally much of a squash fan but I have heard lovely things about combining the sweet spaghetti like flesh of this squash with some Mexican flavors and I just can't wait.
Stay tuned, recipes abound when I have so much beautiful produce as inspiration to my meal planning!
